Literature Text

It was 1945 last time I checked,
I heard the early morning drill,

As I walked out to do roll call,
I heard the sound of bullets,

"Whats going on?!"
I shouted to a fellow mate,

"The US is coming, so they plan to kill all of us now."
He said with a sorrowful tone,

I couldn't believe what I heard,
Why must this happen to us?

What did we do wrong?
Why did God betray us?

"We need to get out of here!"
I shouted over the gun shots,

"Where to?"
He asked?

"Far away from here!"
I said as I ran back into my cell,

As the oldest member in our group,
I decided to take leadership,

"Everyone! Where going to escape! Now pack your stuff and carry what you can!"
I shouted out orders left and right,

Wanting everyone to stay safe,
I knew exactly where we had to go,

The ditch full of dead bodies,
No one would expect live people to be there,

"Follow me, Where leaving now!"
I creeped out of the room and checked for any enemy,

Giving a signal,
we began to run to the ditch,

We ran faster then ever,
Our weak bodies gave us more energy then ever,

A smile appeared on my face,
We we're going to make it,

We're going to live,
No more pain for us,

But that thought left soon,
because a few of us were shot down by the Nazi's,

Screams of terror escaped everyone's lips,
And sure enough "they" heard us,

"Run faster and dart left to right! Do not slow down ever!"
I screamed out hoping they heard,

Everyone followed my order,
And began to zigzag,

The ditch was ahead,
And on the other side were the Americans,

They shouted words of encouragement to us,
"RUN! WE'RE HERE FOR YOU! DON'T STOP! SAFETY IS HERE!"

Tears fled our eyes,
We will all be saved,

I turned to check on everyone,
And I saw all my comrades running along with me,

But A german with a gun appeared,
And aimed it at the youngest of all of us,

Slowing down I pushed the kid into the ditch,
And took the shot for him,

As they all jumped into the hole,
Their cries and wails where heared everywhere,

"please keep going....stay...safe for me.."
I breathed out,

So this was dieing,
But I wasn't scared,

Because I knew they we're safe,
And thats all that mattered,

I shut my eyes,
And tried to escape this world,

But something kept me,
I heard more gun fire,

I worried about the little ones,
Please don't let them die,

I felt a hand on my back,
And I shuddered in fear,

"Shhhh don't worry, I promised you safety. So you're not going to die on me."
The Americans won, We will live. We will see tomorrow.

Being in the concentration camps all ten of my years,
I never knew kindness from anyone,

From today onwards,
Me and my fellow friends will experience Freedom for the first time.
longest poem i have ever written. even tho its a story. ya i wrote about the Holocaust. I thought loving freedom represented them the most, because not many got it. This story isn't about anyone as far as i know.
This is a fabricated story that I have made up a long time ago, so if you are offended sorry, just think of this as alternate universe, if you want. I understand that a ten year old couldn't have survived, so as i said Fabricated Alternate Universe.
